Memorabilia on display

Jerseys worn by Ty Cobb and Lou Gehrig and a bat on which Babe Ruth leaned during his final appearance at Yankee Stadium will be on display at the Ilikai Hotel tomorrow.

The items, valued at a combined $744,500, will be shown between 9:30 and 10:15 a.m., or by appointment.

Azusa Pacific takes title

Jennifer Stark's run-scoring single in the bottom of the seventh inning gave Azusa Pacific a 5-4 softball victory over Hawaii Pacific in yesterday's championship game of the Koolau Classic.

To reach the title game, Azusa Pacific shaded Hawaii-Hilo, 1-0, behind the two-hit pitching of Jodi Miller and Hawaii Pacific trimmed Chaminade, 7-2, earlier in the day.

In the final, Stark had three hits to lead the Cougars (6-5) and Milonne Chapman had three for the Sea Warriors (8-3).

HSGA offers membership to individual golfers

For the first time in its 16-year history, the Hawaii State Golf Association has opened membership to individual men and women.

Until now, amateur golfers in Hawaii had to belong to a golf club with at least 10 members in order to join HSGA.

HSGA is the governing body for amateur golf in Hawaii and the official representative of the USGA in the state.

With associate memberships, individuals will enjoy many of the privileges of HSGA club members, including 10 percent discounts at participating businesses. By showing "Preferred Member" cards, all HSGA members save money on green fees, golf equipment and attire, golf club repairs, sporting goods and meals at restaurants and golf courses.

Associate members also receive the Year 2000 Official USGA Rules Book, four issues each year of the Hawaii Golf Gazette and six issues each year of Hawaii Golf Magazine.
