Arthur Komori, WWII spy, judge



Miki Abe, 100, of Waipahu died Feb. 10 in Pearl City. She was born in Fukushima, Japan. She is survived by sons Michael, Kenneth and Lawrence; daughter Lillian Sakamoto, seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Private services.

Magdalene C. Aki, 72, of Kapaa, Kauai, died Thursday at home. She was born on Oahu. She is survived by husband Jacob; sons Jacob Jr., Edward and Daniel; daughter Sharon Lauriat; sister Eleanor Wong, 14 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Helen L. Dang, 91, of Honolulu, a retired switchboard operator with Liberty Bank, died Feb. 8 in Hale Ho Aloha. She was born in Honolulu. She is survived by son Dr. Michael; daughter Pat Ching; brothers Dr. Edward, Wallace and Charles Lau; sisters Jean Wong, Aileen Tong and Muriel Marshall, five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Simplicio Dias, 71, of Ewa Beach, who worked for JBL Hawaii Ltd., died Wednesday in St. Francis-West Hospice. He was born in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii. He is survived by wife Leilani, daughter Vonnell Reiny, stepdaughters Gemini Ward and Debbieann Milan, stepson Melvin Ward, brother Emil, sisters Pacita Lampitoc and Connie Arsinio, seven grandchildren and a great-grandchild. Edward L.H. Kanahele, 57, of Hilo, a professor of History and Social Sciences at the Hilo Community College, died Wednesday in North Hawaii Community Hospital. He was born in Kahuku. Yutaka R. "Bob" Takatsuka, 86, of Kahului died Thursday in Hale Makua. He was born in Haiku, Maui.
