classic returnsThe musical, which opens tomorrow at Diamond Head Theatre, recounts the career of J. Perripoint Finch, the main character who sings, dances and weasels his way up the corporate ladder. He gets his start as a window washer with an instinct for undercutting fellow executives and buttering up bosses.
This satire on corporate life is directed by Mary Gutzi, whose Broadway and national touring company credits include "Ragtime," "Sunset Boulevard," "Les Miserables" and "CATS." The musical is choreographed by John Rampage.

The musical won six Tony awards and the 1961 Pulitzer Prize for drama. When the Broadway show closed, it was the fifth-longest-running musical of all time. It was revived in 1995 starring Matthew Broderick and later Sarah Jessica Parker.
The musical is taken from author Shepherd Mead's 1952 novel, based on his life as an advertising executive. The book caught the attention of writing team Jack Weinstock, Willie Gilbert and Abe Burrows, who turned the novel into a script.
