cookbook to be hot stuffFrom top chefs to home cooks, they donated recipes to the Child and Family Service Guild, for a cookbook sold to raise money for the guild's programs.
Their efforts have been recognized by Tabasco, the hot-sauce folks, who've named "Flavors of Hawaii" the West Regional winner in its Community Cookbook Awards competition.
The cookbook was judged on layout, art, title, theme, storyline, "regional culinary documentation" and recipe selection.
" 'Flavors of Hawaii' " contains some of the most exotic recipes we've tested," said Paul McIlhenny, president of McIlhenny Co., which makes Tabasco.
The cookbook sells for $35 at Barnes & Noble, Borders Books and Music and many other specialty shops. Nearly 7,000 copies have been sold so far.
