Star-BulletinRear Adm. Charles Kubic of the Pacific Division of the Naval Facilities Engineering Command at Pearl Harbor has been nominated for a second star.
He also is commander of the Third Naval Construction Brigade. The nomination is subject to U.S. Senate approval.
Army Sgt. 1st Class Brian Dowd, an Army Reserve recruiter at the Pearlridge station, was among four recruiters recently recognized for excelling in their work.
A 15-year veteran who has been in Hawaii since 1997, Dowd enlisted 53 soldiers into the 9th Army Reserve Command last year.
He received the Chief of Staff of the Army Recruiter of Excellence Association Award from Gen. Eric Shinseki at a Washington, D.C., ceremony last month.
MOVING UP:
Hickam Air Force Base: Lt. Col. John Binder assumed command of the 15th Medical Support Squadron.Kaneohe Marine Corps Base Hawaii: Lt. Col. Roger Kraft relieved Lt. Col. Mark Schafer as head of Marine Aviation Logistics Support Element.
Hickam Air Force Base: Chief Master Sgt. Timothy Driscoll will become commandant of the Hickam Professional Military Education Center on Feb. 15.
USS Chicago nuclear attack submarine: Cmdr. Daniel Prince relieved Cmdr. John Mickey.
25th Infantry Division: Capt. Dave Foley recently assumed the leadership of the same company his father commanded when he received the Medal of Honor during the Vietnam War. Capt. Foley took command of A Company, 2nd Battalion, 27th Infantry. Lt. Gen. Robert Foley led A Company in 1966, when he single-handedly destroyed three machine gun bunkers and led an assault near Quan Dau Tieng.
USS Salvor rescue and salvage ship: Lt. Cmdr. William Nault relieved Lt. Cmdr. Bette Bush.
State Department of Defense: Col. Clarence Agena, Hawaii Army National Guard chief of staff, selected as the department's deputy director.
