Junior Wong scored 16 points as St. Louis beat University, 66-48, last night at McCabe Gym and tied idle Iolani for the Interscholastic League of Honolulu lead at 6-1.

Sanoe Mokuahi (12 points) and Kalvin Koverman (10) supported Wong for the Crusaders. Manu McBraun scored 14 and Nikolas Clay 13 for the Junior Rainbows (2-5).

D.C. Daniels netted 12 points to pace the Mustangs (7-1). Lawrence Hamacon of Kailua (1-7) led all scorers with 14.

Five Rams scored in double figures against the Golden Hawks to improve to 8-0 in the OIA West.

Jacob Avilla scored a game-high 19 points and Sa Tanuvasa added 13 for the Rams.

The Golden Hawks (4-4) got 15 points from Louis Mafu and 12 from Aaron Figueroa, but couldn't keep pace with the high-scoring Radford offense.

Aiea advances
in OIA soccer

Kelsey Greer's overtime goal gave Aiea a 2-1 victory over Kalaheo yesterday and Castle, Kaiser and Pearl City also won first-round matches in the Oahu Interscholastic Association girls' soccer tournament.

In today's quarterfinals, Castle plays Moanalua and Aiea meets Kailua at Kailua, while Pearl City takes on Kahuku and Kaiser faces Mililani at Mililani. The action starts at 5:15 p.m. at both sites.

Yesterday's Aiea-Kalaheo OT duel was played at Castle, where the home team beat Waianae, 4-0, as Dionne Kaneshiro scored twice.

At Pearl City, the Chargers blanked Roosevelt, 2-0, and Kaiser downed Waialua, 3-0.

Goal scorers-Aiea: Stephanie Kawamura, Kelsey Greer. Kalaheo: Mel Cole. Castle: Dionne Kaneshiro 2, Ashley Kalama, Kim Shim. Kaiser: Lindsie Shimizu, Erin Sayegusa, Lianne Dela Cruz. Pearl City: Lynette Sialana, Pamela Fong.

In Interscholastic League of Honolulu regular-season girls' matches yesterday, Shari Nishikawa's two goals led Iolani to a 4-0 victory over St. Francis; Kamehameha edged Mid-Pacific, 2-1, and Punahou and Pac-5 played to a 0-0 draw.
