He says he is interested

Star-BulletinFormer Honolulu Mayor Frank Fasi is looking to revive his political career -- or at least put an end to the political aspirations of his former protege and current Honolulu Mayor Jeremy Harris.
After declaring his candidacy yesterday for the upcoming mayoral race, Fasi said he wants to "knock out (Harris) completely" by preventing Harris from becoming mayor again and using that office as a springboard to the governor's seat.
Fasi, who served six terms as Honolulu mayor, said he is interested in joining forces with Councilman Mufi Hannemann, recently ousted City Council chairman and Harris critic.
If Hannemann proves to be the more viable candidate, Fasi said he is willing to work as Hannemann's campaign manager.
But Hannemann isn't interested.
"I like Mayor Fasi. I think he was a wonderful mayor," he said. "But if I go into this race, I am not teaming up with anybody. There will be no deals."
Hannemann said he is "looking very seriously" at becoming a candidate and would welcome Fasi's support.
And if Fasi is willing to work for $1, he would welcome Fasi at his campaign headquarters -- but not as the campaign manager, he said.
