Punahou's Chang to Stanford

National cross-country champion Victoria Chang has made a verbal commitment to Stanford.

The highly recruited Punahou senior selected the Cardinal over four other schools -- Colorado, USC, Brigham Young and UCLA.

Chang, the most successful female prep runner in the history of the state, won the prestigious Foot Locker National Cross Country Championship in Orlando, Florida last month. She also captured the Golden West Invitational's 3,200 meter title at California State University in Sacramento, Calif., in June 1999.

The UH men edged St. Mary's, 4-3, at Moraga and the UH women won at Santa Clara, 6-1.
