Albert K.O. "Kanaka" Akamu, 76, of Makaha, a retiree, died Sunday in Ewa Beach. He was born in Mahukona, Hawaii. He is survived by daughters Linda Akamu, Sharon Ching, Rose Mary Darwin and Alberta Harrell, 11 grandchildren, and 22 great-grandchildren. Services: 11 a.m. tomorrow at Maili Beach Park (Tumble Land). Aloha attire.

Melvin W.K. Chin, 57, of Honolulu, died Saturday in Queen's Hospital. He was born in Honolulu. He is survived by mother Mildred Ng, brothers Douglas and Dexter, and sisters Marilyn Kwock, Cynthia Wang, Gwendolyn Aoyama, Natalie Davis, Jeriann Chin and Karen Char. Annie May K.F. Chun, of Honolulu, died Jan. 16 in Kaiser Foundation Hospital. She was born in Honolulu. Suk Bong "Cowboy" Chun, 79, of Wahiawa, who retired from Schofield, died Monday in Wahiawa General Hospital. He was born in Waialua. Denny L. Ford, 84, of Honolulu, a retired military airplane mechanic, died Friday in Honolulu. He was born in South Carolina. He is survived by son Jan, a granddaughter, and three great-grandchildren. Inurnment at a later date.

Richard R. "Dickie" Fukunaga, 72, of Kailua, a retired lead storekeeper for United Airlines, died Wednesday at home. He was born in Honolulu. He is survived by wife Betty T., sons Clarence K. Omizo and Neil H. Fukunaga, daughters Mildred M. Watanabe and Francine R. Fukunaga, mother Frances F., brother Clifford H., sister Sadie S. Yasuda, and four grandchildren. Candace M. Goodish, 52, of Kaneohe, a special needs teacher with the state Department of Education, died Sunday in Honolulu. She was born in Boston. Yoshio "Yabo" Ide, 70, of Kaneohe, a retired warehouseman at Hopaco, died Tuesday in Castle Hospital. He was born in Kaneohe. He is survived by wife Clarita, sons Daniel and Matthew, brother Michael, sisters Edith Nariyoshi, Gladys Samer, Ayame Ahuna and Florence Watanuki, and four grandchildren. Bernandina "Blackie" Ketten, 66, of Kailua, a retired ward clerk for Queen's Hospital, died Saturday in Kailua. She was born on Maui. Melvin P. "Mel" Mago, 58, formerly of Hawaii, a heavy duty equipment mechanic in northern California, died Dec. 23 at home. He was born on Oahu. He is survived by wife Dee, parents Wayne and Grace, daughter Wannetta Spivey, stepson Christopher Jensen, stepdaughter Victoria Jensen, brothers Eugene, Henry and Charles, and eight grandchildren. Violet A. Monalim, 69, of Honolulu, a retired office clerk for Watamull's, died Jan. 12 in Aiea. She was born in Lahaina, Maui.
