The Knights hand the

Mustangs their first OIA
loss after 76 straight
wins, dating back to '93Kalaheo High School's colossal winning streak in Oahu Interscholastic Association boys' basketball play is no more.
Castle's poised Knights ended the Mustangs' run at 76 last night with a 54-44 home-court victory.
It was the first OIA setback since 1993 (a postseason tournament loss to Kaimuki) for the Pete Smith-coached Mustangs, winners of six straight public school titles.
"I think the best word for what our kids did tonight is 'persevere,' " said Castle coach Rocky Fraticelli. "Kalaheo made some big baskets, but we answered."
Paul Collins scored 12 of his 15 points in the second half, hitting four key free throws in the closing minutes to help Castle put the wraps on its fifth victory without a loss this season.
"We're 5-0 and nobody knows," Fraticelli said. "But this was as good as it gets. And now we've got another big one coming up (against visiting Roosevelt, also 5-0, Friday night)."
Dayton Aberilla was the Knights' high scorer with 16 points. Keoki Rapisora added 11, connecting on three 3-pointers.
The Mustangs (4-1) were led by D.C. Daniels with 13 points and Ikaika Francis with 10.
