New coach for Kapolei High

Bulldogs regroup:

Kaimuki goes for its first "official'' win tonight in boys' basketball when the Bulldogs travel to unbeaten Roosevelt.

Kaimuki last week forfeited both of its earlier wins when the school learned it had unknowingly used a player who was academically ineligible. The Bulldogs had defeated Kailua and Kalani.

Softball: Trojans put 10-0 mark on line

Unbeaten Mililani (10-0) opens defense of its OIA girls' softball title in the 12-team tournament at Roosevelt High School field this week.

Tomorrow at 6 p.m., the Trojans, the top seed from the West, will face the winner of today's game between Kalaheo and Campbell. Mililani finished third in last year's state tournament, losing to eventual champion Iolani in the semifinal, and then defeating Kailua, 1-0.

Basketball: Clash of the undefeated

East unbeatens Kalaheo (4-0) and Castle (4-0) meet tonight at the Knights' gym at 7 p.m. in an OIA boys' basketball showdown.

The Mustangs, last year's state runners-up, have won 76 straight OIA games. Pete Smith's team hasn't dropped a regular- or post-season league game since the last week of the 1993 season. Kalaheo has won six straight OIA championships.
