Daisy Akahoshi, 92, of Honolulu, a retired secretary for Congresswoman Patsy Mink, died Dec. 31. She was born in Hauula, Oahu. She is survived by brothers Fred, Charles and Irving, and sister Blanche Urasaki. Services were private.

Albert Bungula, 60, of Hilo, a security guard, died Friday at the Hilo Medical Center. He was born in Hakalau, Hawaii. He is survived by wife Evelyn; daughters Lani-Rose, Ivy Almagner, Robin-Lee, Sandy Perreira and April; sons Al, Albert, Alex Soares and Robert; sisters Maxima Israel, Nora Cabatu and Connie Cadiz, and 15 grandchildren. Services: 12:15 p.m. tomorrow at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Call: 10 a.m. to noon. Casual attire.

Rose K. W. Fernandez 73, of Hilo, a teacher of Hawaiian studies, died Jan. 1 at Hilo Medical Center. She was born in Pepeekeo, Hawaii. She is survived by companion Anthony "Pops" Arbles; son Lloyd Eugene Kauffman, Jr.; daughters Charlotte Victorino-Davis, Cindy-Lee Ganon, Cherri-Lynn "Hale" Fernandez, Lou-Ann Tolentino and Lea-Francine Morett; hanai sons Stanford "Boy" Ogata and Ernie Cruz Sr.; hanai daughters Piilani Keahi, Teonie Pua, Beatrice Sextimo, Rose Mari Hose, Larrylynn "Girl" Grube and Janice Pea; sisters Esther McClalen and Mary Waihee Shaw, 42 grandchildren and 18 granchildren. Samuel Masahiro Hashimoto, 72, of Wailuku, Maui, a state elevator inspector, died Thursday at Maui Memorial Medical Center. He was born in Ewa, Oahu. He is survived by wife Turid; sons Sam, Kenneth, Richard, Danny and Kevin; brothers Willard "Yagi," Melvin "Shige," Kenneth "Masa" and Brian; sister Lily Higa, and nine grandchildren. Tom Atkins Kendig, 85, of Honolulu, a retired radiologist, died Dec. 17 at Queen's Medical Center. He was born in Pasadena, Calif. He is survived by wife Sally; son Tom Jr.; daughter Jennifer Kraus, and sister Barbara Knoderer. Services were private.

Dwayne Toshio Taira, 39, of Honolulu, general manager of the Itoguruma Restaurant, died Jan. 1 at home. He was born in Honolulu. He is survived by mother Aiko; brothers Derek K. and Morris M., and sister Jody H. Memorial services: 6 p.m. Thursday at Hosoi Garden Mortuary. No flowers. Casual attire.

Sachie Mikami Tonaki, 60, of Aiea, died Dec. 27 at Kuakini Medical Center. She was born in Karafuto, Japan. She is survived by husband Ernest; sons Jon and Bill, and sister Shizuno Ghesquier. Services were private.

Yukiko Uyehara, 86, of Honolulu died Dec. 21 at St. Francis Hospice West. She was born in Kahuku. She is survived by son David; daughters Florence Akamine, Naomi Takamoto, Yvonne Kagihara, Susan Uyeda and Dale; brother Kenjiro Uehara; sisters Yoshino Hanashiro, Yoshiko Sugai, Hanako Hoe and Grace Ehara, nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. David Kawika Waiwaiole, 88, of Waimanalo, a retired electrician with Pearl Harbor Shipyard, died Thursday. He was born in Wailuku, Maui. He is survived by son Arthur; daughter Etta Mae Huihui; half-brothers John and Lionel; half-sisters Margaret Petrie and Leonie Blair; four grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Francisco Manding Yacapin, 86, of Honolulu, died Dec. 28 at home. He was born in the Philippines. He is survived by wife Leonides; daughters Frances Guillermo and Arlene Christensen; brothers Diego and Jose; sister Martha Monroy, and eight grandchildren. Sau Biu Lam Yee, 87, of Honolulu, died Dec. 30 at Straub Hospital. She was born in China. She is survived by son Henry; brother Ding Fu Lam; sisters Suk Lim Ng, Suk Jong Lam, Suk Ping Chan, Sau Wah Kwock, Wah Siu Ching and Hon Bing Su, and four grandsons. Raymond Lin Lai Yuen, 74, of Honolulu, a retired captain of the Honolulu Fire Department, died Wednesday. He was born in Honolulu. He is survived by companion Evelyn Noa; daughter Ramette Rodrigues; sons Randall, Walter and Barney; brothers Wallace, Harry, Albert and Thomas; 19 grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
