Fund-raiser honors
Wedemeyers

A roast and silent auction will honor Charlie and Lucy Wedemeyer and raise money to complete a documentary on their lives.

The event will take place at 6 p.m. Jan. 19 at the Tapa Ballroom, Hilton Hawaiian Village.

Charlie Wedemeyer, an athlete and football coach, was diagnosed with Lou Gehrig's disease in 1977 and was given a year to live.

The documentary chronicles the last 10 years and follows the couple on their speaking tour through Europe and the United States.

Bullet Student films sought for Kauai festival: The Hawaii Student Film Festival will take place April 20-22 at the Kauai Community College Performing Arts Center.

Students of any age from intermediate school through college are eligible to submit their work.

Film or video in any form will be accepted.

Entry forms may be obtained by writing to: Kauai Community College Film Club, P.O. Box 2051, Kapaa, Hawaii 96746. The deadline for submissions is April 3.
