Leona Miguel Bareng, 91, of Kahuku, a retired employee with the federal government, died Sunday in Kahuku. She was born in Laoag City, the Philippines. She is survived by sons Jaime and Orlino, daughters Pacita Cabbab and Juanita Duldulao, brothers Tomas and Pedro Miguel, sisters Macaria Mina and Sosela Miguel, 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Rosary: 7 p.m. Tuesday at Hawaiian Memorial Park Mortuary. Call from 5:30 to 9 p.m. Mass: 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Roch Catholic Church in Kahuku. Call after 9 a.m. Burial: Hawaiian Memorial Park. Norma E. Garcia, 72, of Waianae, died Nov. 24 in St. Francis-West Hospital. She was born in Kealia, Kauai. She is survived by mother Remidios Oamil; daughter Valerie Main; sons Van and Vic Garcia; brothers Jose, John and James Dancil and Manuel and Hermogenes Oamil; sisters Adela Maeda, Betty Acedillo, Flora Caban, Linda Alameida and Carmen Uyesugi, and five grandchildren. Charlie W. Gates, 86, of Great Falls, S.C., who retired from J.P. Stevens Co., died Tuesday in Chester County Hospital. He was born in McAdenville, N.C. He is survived by daughter Jane Gates Suthard; sons Charles E., Richard H. of Honolulu, John L., Joe D. and Ronnie H.; sister Grace Lorance, 23 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. Carolyn J. Gilman, 60, of Pepeekeo, Hawaii, a retired teacher, died Monday at home. She was born in Davenport, Iowa. She is survived by daughter Katrina J., son Dante, sister Marilyn J. Tidwell and father Dale W. Henry. Private services. Memorial donations suggested to the Los Angeles Catholic Workers, 632 North Brittania St., Los Angeles, CA 90033.

Daniel C. Iwami, 72, of Honolulu, a retired U.S. Customs inspector, died Friday in St. Francis-West Hospice. He was born in Kahului, Maui. He is survived by wife Teruko; son Jon; daughters Catherine Collado and Arleen Tanaka; brothers Hisao, Tsuneo and Koreki; sisters Fumie Yorimoto, Tsuyako Iwami and Alice Paresa, and three grandchildren. Florence K. Kaawaloa, 87, of Waianae, died Dec 22 at home. She was born in Honolulu. She is survived by sons Wallace K., Samuel K., Austin K. Jr. and Larry L.; daughters Elaine K. Teves and Yvonne P. Kaawaloa; brothers George and Louis Kahanu; sister Lei Girelli, 16 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great-grandchildren. Sean T.K. Kahele, 24, of Honolulu, a chef at a Honolulu restaurant, will be remembered in a visitation after 10 a.m. Sunday at Punaluu Beach Park. Scattering of ashes to follow. Casual attire. He died in Kona Community Hospital after a car accident Dec. 19. He was born in Honolulu. He is survived by brother Kevin and fiancee Lavon Adame.

Fay F. Oishi, 85, of Pahoa, Hawaii, a retired teacher for Pahoa High and Elementary School, died Friday in Hilo Hospital. She was born in Kilauea, Kauai. She is survived by husband Toru, sons Lawrence K. and Raymond N., daughters Linda D. Olney and Laurie G. Howe, brother Keichi Fukuda, nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Private services. No monetary donations.

Charles O. Rogers, 81, of Kailua, a retired lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Marine Corps, died Friday in Straub Hospital. He is survived by wife Elizabeth "Bets" Thomas; sons Chuck, Frank and John; brothers Robert B. and William F., four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Memorial services: 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Christopher's Church in Kailua. Private scattering of ashes. Aloha attire. Noboru Sugawa, 72, of Honolulu, a retired carpenter, died Dec. 22 in Kuakini Hospital. He was born in Honolulu. He is survived by wife Hideko; daughters JoAnn N. Minshall, Aileen C. Sugawa and Cynthia E. Oshiro; brothers Takami, Yoshiaki, Itsuo and Yutaka; sisters Nancy Sekioka, Martha S. Tanji and Ruth Ching, five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Private services.

Mary Swindle, 82, of Honolulu, died Friday at home. She was born in Tulsa, Okla. She is survived by daughter Jacqueline Dwight and grandson Allen Dwight. Graveside services: 11:30 a.m. next Thursday at Hualalai Memorial Cemetery. No flowers.

Janet K. Toda, 82, of Pearl City, died Dec. 22. She was born in Hanalei, Kauai. She is survived by husband Harvey; son Alvin; daughter Kathleen Hashiguchi; brothers James and Alfred Kanemoto; sisters Laura Patrick, Almira Ida and Setsuko Iwahashi, and four grandsons. Private services.

Joseph A. Torres, 83, of Palolo Valley, who retired from Pearl Harbor, died Friday in Kaiser Foundation Hospital. He was born in Kahuku. He is survived by son Joseph T.; daughters Sylvia J. Rohr, Cynthia A. Cabrera, Kathleen D. Domen and Trudy M. and Joanne M. Torres; brothers Manuel, Stephen and Alex; sisters Agnes Williams, Mary Dancoe, Venes "Cupie" White and Angie Justice, 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
