Lt. Paul J. Shaughnessy, Pearl Harbor chaplain, above,
takes a close look at a stained-glass window that was
dedicated during a ceremony yesterday at Pearl Harbor
Submarine Memorial Chapel. The glass depicts an enlisted
man and an officer between a submarine and Mount Fuji,
kneeling before Jesus. Twelve more stained-glass windows
will be dedicated -- one each month next year.
Below, Daniel Del Monte, who served in a sub during
the 1960s, Kristin De Coster, center, widow of a WWII
submariner, and Stanley Nicholls, far right, a WWII
submariner vet, stand during the dedication of the stained
glass window ceremony, paying respect to those who
have served and died aboard submarines.
