Bernard McIntosh, the 6-foot-7 forward who head coach Riley Wallace said had left the team last week, is back.

McIntosh showed up for practice yesterday for the first time in several days.

But Wallace, who said he was told by his assistant coaches of McIntosh's plans to leave, has decided not to play the junior from North Carolina in this week's Nike Festival.

The Rainbows open today at 7 p.m. against Florida Atlantic at the Stan Sheriff Center.

"He'll practice and work his way back up," said Wallace. "There's no set date as to when he will return (to play)."

McIntosh had been averaging 7.4 points per game and 4.6 rebounds. He'd played 20.1 minutes per game.

Wallace said that McIntosh made no comment to him about why he left.

Reportedly the player was homesick for his daughter and girlfriend.

McIntosh had contemplated leaving the team twice before but had been talked out of it.
