Vulcans host Coconut
Coast Classic

Hawaii-Hilo will host five other men's basketball teams and six women's teams in the fifth annual AmerSports Coconut Coast Classic Sunday through Tuesday at the Afook-Chinen Civic Auditorium.

North Dakota, the No. 1-ranked Division II women's team, and Truman (Mo.) State, the No. 2 DII men's team, head the fields.

The tournament tips off Sunday with three women's games starting at 10 a.m. and two men's games at 4 and 7 p.m.

The UH-Hilo men play North Dakota at 7 p.m. Sunday and Nebraska-Omaha at 5 p.m. Monday.

Bradley pre-game party

Alumni and friends of Bradley University will have a party from 5-6 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 27, at the Waikiki Beachcomber Hotel before the 7:30 Bradley-Hawaii basketball game at Stan Sheriff Center that opens the Rainbow Classic. Braves coach Jim Molinari and athletic director Ken Kavanagh will speak and there will be a cash bar, hors d'oeuvres and door prizes.

Tickets to the game are available by calling 944-2697.

Track and field clinic

Former Olympic and national team athletes and coaches from the United States and Japan will take part in the fifth annual Celebrity Olympic & National Track and Field Clinic Jan. 15-16 at Kaiser High School.

The event is sponsored by the Hawaii Elite Track Team.
