Diamond Head Grill, formerly David Paul's, opened Wednesday night with "Baywatch Hawaii" beauties and a "Baywatch" hunk, the sizzling Hula Joe & the Hutjumpers swing band and tables of food and wine. The opening was a benefit for America's Promise Hawaii, part of a national effort chaired by retired Gen. Colin Powell to build and strengthen America's Youth. Lynn Watanabe and Barbara Kuljis are co-chairs and Gov. Ben and Vicky Cayetano are honorary chairs. Chef David Reardon and his staff went all out to please as guests included chefs Alan Wong, Fred DeAngelo and Tom Wong and hotel execs David Monahan, Keith Vierra, Ernie Nishizaki, Adi Kohler, Charley Park, Tsuyoshi Takata, Charldon Thomas, Bill Hurley, Harris Chan, Ed Sower and Ren Hirose. Monahan is the big man in ColonyAdvisors, which owns W Honolulu Diamond Head, the hotel in which the restaurant is located. The hotel is managed by Starwood. Hirose is general manager. "Baywatch" regulars attending were Jason Momoa, Simmone Mackinnon, Brooke Burns, Stacy Kamano and Denise Rich, who does nails for the cast, and writer Tai Collins, who looks as hot as the on-camera "Baywatch" women ... Old Timers are stirring
The annual Old Timers Reunion for media, advertising and public relations slaves will be Thursday at Murphy's from 5 p.m. to whatever, says organizer Ted Sturdivant. Ted says all who attend must have seen a commercial or have read an ad in the past 10 years. There will be no name tags, prizes or speeches, Ted vows. And if you feel left out, Ted says call him at 955-2378 ... Dressy ex-isle P.R. woman Jean Dickinson arrived from L.A. last night for a quick visit ...A "Christmas at Washington Place" ornament featuring the residence as it was in 1858 when 100 kids were invited there to take part in what may have been Hawaii's first Christmas party will benefit the Washington Place Foundation. The gold-plated ornament sells for $18 at Neiman Marcus. Vicky Cayetano, who created the foundation, signs ornaments at Neiman Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. ...
A reunion for former Kahala Hilton employees will take place Dec. 15 from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. at the Ilikai's Pacific Ballroom; heavy pupus and no-host cocktails, $25. Alice Clay, a onetime professional hula dancer who sells apartments in One Kalakaua, bought a penthouse in the complex and had it blessed by Monsignor Roy Peters and in Hawaiian by Puakea Nogelmeier Sunday.
