Honolulu lights up
for the holidays

Last night, the city held its annual
tree lighting and City Lights parade

The city staged its annual electric light parade at 6 p.m. last night starting from the Beretania St. side of the Capitol, turning down Bishop St. and ending at City Hall via King St.

The parade featured several lighted floats punctuated by costumed Christmas carolers, a bagpipe unit, the Royal Hawaiian Band, marching bands from several high schools including Kahuku, Aiea, Farrington, Mililani, Waipahu and Castle.

Hawaiian Electric sponsored the Farrington
High School electric car racing team.

Kids lined the route waving to and collecting candy
from parade participants. The parade was capped
with a Santa Claus float.
