Pratt wins
lifting crown

Conrad Pratt, an 11-year old sixth grader at Punahou School, set two American and two world records in winning the boys' 10-11 years old/78-88 pounds bodyweight title in the recent AAU World Bench Press Champion- ships at Vista, Calif.

Pratt, who weighed 78 pounds, had a best lift of 104.5 pounds to win the division title.

The old record for the age and weight group was 77.0 pounds.

It was Pratt's second World AAU Bench Press championship in as many years.

Jennings triggers Rams

Summer Jennings a 1997 graduate of University Lab School, led the Colorado State women's volleyball team past Brigham Young in Saturday's final of the first Mountain West Conference Championship Tournament.

The Rams' middle blocker had 14 kills, six blocks and a .321 hitting percentage in the 15-8, 15-8, 15-12 victory and was named to the all-tournament team.

UHH's Hoshino shares title

Shane Hoshino of Hawaii-Hilo shot a 4-over-par 76 in the final round to tie Michael Harris of Michigan for individual honors at 216 in the Mauna Kea Resort Invitational college golf tournament on the Big Island.

Jaime Matsumura of the Hawaii Rainbows had a 223 total for the 54-hole event, finishing seventh.

UH-Manoa was sixth and UH-Hilo seventh in team play, won by Minnesota with an 898 total.
