Sony Open golf
tickets are on sale

Tickets for the Sony Open in Hawaii golf tournament, scheduled for Jan. 10-16 at Waialae Country Club, are now on sale.

The cost is $10 for daily admission to the pro-am and first two rounds, Jan. 12-14, and $15 daily for the final two rounds.

A tournament badge, good for the entire week, is available at $50. There is no charge for the Jan. 10-11 events, which include the pro practice rounds, the Johnny Bellinger Shoot-Out and the PGA Tour Players Challenge.

Tickets are on sale at First Hawaiian Bank branches, ETM kiosks at selected Safeway stores, on the internet at www.etm.com or by calling 888-ETM-TIXS.

Honors for Cadet Parrish

Moanalua High School graduate Melissa Parrish, a sophomore at the U.S. Military Academy, has been named to the NCFPA All-American scholar-athlete and USAA all- American collegiate-scholar softball teams.

As a freshman for Army, she started in left field and earned the team's Hustle Award. During the recently completed fall league, Parrish batted .340 as the leadoff batter and earned the Superintendent's Coin, given to the outstanding player in each class.

New junior golf program

The Oahu Junior Golf Association's registration and informational meeting is scheduled for 7-8:30 p.m. Dec. 9 at the Moanalua High School gym.

The Q&A session will cover the OJGA's developmental program, designed for the junior golfer with little or no formal training; the tournament circuit program and the players' tour. Membership is open to players ages 7-17 as of June 30.

A copy of a birth certificate, and medical and emergency information is needed for registration.
