properties last monthUnits of Marriott International Inc. have taken over the management of the Ihilani Resort & Spa and the adjacent Ko Olina Golf Club.
The 387-room hotel has been renamed the JW Marriott: Ihilani Resort & Spa at Ko Olina and is being marketed as one of 10 hotels with the top-line JW Marriott brand.
The 18-hole Ted Robinson-designed golf course, which will keep its name, is being managed by Marriott Golf.
Marriott International signed management contracts for both properties with the new owner, Cornerstone Real Estate Advisers Inc., a unit of Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Co. Mass Mutual bought the properties last month from a subsidiary of Japan Airlines Co. Ko Olina Co. LLC, which owns the 650-acre Ko Olina Resort, is a minority partner in the ownership of the hotel.
