the start of the Grand Slam of GolfPOIPU, Hawaii -- At the rate he's been playing, Tiger Woods can afford to give his three challengers a headstart in the PGA Grand Slam of Golf.
Woods, coming off yet another victory Sunday in Malayasia, was scheduled to arrive at Kauai's Poipu Bay Resort course only four hours before today's start of the 36-hole match-play event.
Meanwhile, Jose Maria Olazabal, Paul Lawrie and Davis Love III have had at least a couple of days to familiarize themselves with the 6,959-yard oceanside course.
Although he'll be short of practice, Woods can't say he's not familiar with the layout. He's back as defending champion. In his opening match, Woods, the top seed, was to take on British Open winner Lawrie, who is ranked No. 4. The second pair has No. 3 Love facing Masters champion Olazabal.
"All I can do is try to play well against him" Lawrie said.
