Bengoechea on
PGA Tour

Hawaii's Aaron Bengoechea earned a spot on next year's PGA Tour yesterday by shooting a final-round 71 for a six-day total of 410 at the qualifying school.

Keoke Cotner, also from Hawaii, failed to qualify, shooting a final-round 70 for a 427.

One familiar name also earned a ticket to the Tour. Gary Nicklaus, the 30-year-old son of the man who won a record 18 professional majors, finished with a 7-under 63 on the final day of the torturous qualifying school.

Blaine McCallister, a five-time winner on the PGA Tour, won the six-round event at Doral Golf Resort by closing with a 67 for a 19-under 401 total.

The top 35 and ties earned their cards for the 2000, while the next 50 and ties earned a spot on the Buy.com Tour (formerly Nike Tour).

Fu's 10-0 a Football Fever winner

Rachel Fu claims her method to picking Football Fever games is not fancy.

No injury reports and extensive study for her. Sometimes it's just as simple as looking at the polls. Sometimes it's a hunch.

Whatever her method, her results speak loudly. Last week she fired off a perfect, 10-0 ballot. Hers was the first drawn among those that were equal to or better than the best of the celebrity panelists. And that took some doing, since KGMB's Neil Everett was 10-0 as well. He was the only panelist to pick the New York Jets over the Buffalo Bills.

Thus, Fu is the Week 13 winner of our contest and the $500 and two tickets to the Rivals.com Hula Bowl Maui that go with it.

"You folks have a chart, listing the top teams," Fu said. "If the No. 5 team is playing No. 10, I go with No. 5. Sometimes its my gut feeling."

Sounds good to us.
