City forms can be
filled out online after
loading file

The Internet is expanding the reach of the city and county, although the process is not yet simple.

You can now fill out a series of city forms online. When you try out the city's new service at http://cchnl.oceanic.com, however, you first have to download a large file to run the program.

But after doing that, you will be able to apply for a job or report a specific problem while you are online.

To see a better example of a city already living on the Internet, check out Santa Monica's page at http://pen.ci.santa-monica.ca.us/cm/index.htm. It lets you pay your business taxes, register your dog or bike and even request that graffiti be removed from a specific site.

Or for an interesting example of city-business partnership, check out the city of Del Mar at http://www.delmar.ca.us, which offers a low-interest VISA credit card, with special discounts from Del Mar merchants.
