Hawaii's scoring duo of Veronica Flores and Jennifer Starsiak struck again yesterday leading the Wahine to a 2-1 nonconference win over host Texas Wesleyan at Fort Worth, Texas.

"If we were hard-nosed, we would play the first 11 and work on things, but this was a participatory game," said Hawaii head coach Pinsoom Tenzing.

"We moved the ball around well, but missed a lot of chances to score. We played everybody, so it's a happy team."

Flores scored her 10th goal, a school single-season record, at 36 minutes, 57 seconds. The 5-foot-4 striker dribbled the ball to the end line on the left side, angled back toward the center and scored from 10 yards out.

A three-shot flurry, the first saved by UH freshman goalkeeper Stephanie Pearson, the second rebounding off a post led to Summer Day scoring on the third try for the Rams at 57:30.

The Wahine came back seven minutes later.

Kelly Keohen took the ball down the right flank, centered it to Tiffany Makue, who delivered a through ball to Starsiak. Her shot beat the goalie to the far post.

Starting goalkeeper Demarre Sanchez got the day off after two tough league matches. She also was named Western Athletic Conference Player of the Week.

The victory tied the Wahine record for most wins in a season (11) set last year.
