Student takes bait
in trolley trolling

STAR 101.9's Hudson is about to be Hott! At least she will if she takes on the last name of her husband-to-be, Steve Hott, lead singer of the band Joe Rock Star. Things heated up just a tad at her bachelorette party when 30 lingerie-clad women joined her on a Roberts Hawaii trolley ride from pillar to Mug shotpost, or at least from bar to bar. They'd won the right to don their nighties and join the party by calling into her morning radio show. But as the ladies were en route to the Mai Tai Bar, they spotted a lone male passenger on TheBus, and waved for him to join them. He did at the next red light and had the time of his life. Turned out to be an HPU medical student -- although no personal examinations were allowed. He served as a kind of Boy Friday for the Teddy Girls. At Oceans, they all were "busted" by two HPD'ers, or at least male strippers who masqueraded as such. Again, no frisking -- everything was strictly above board for Hudson and her merry band. She and Hott will be tying the knot Saturday in Las Vegas. After running into them last week, I deadpanned to Hudson that the law required her to have an Elvis impersonator as part of the ceremony in Vegas. She bought it, at least for a few seconds ...

Bid me a do

AUCTIONEER Marty McClain, whose Halekauwila Street warehouse and headquarters is a treasure trove of old estate furniture, art work and photos, has pounded his gavel one more time and struck a deal. He's gathering a collection of friends together Nov. 14 at the Paul Mitchell Estate in Lanikai, not to auction anything but to take longtime girlfriend and business associate Wendy Bedard as his lifetime partner and bride ... And congrats to Island Business publisher Mary Winpenny, who's become a corporate vice-president of Honolulu Publishing. She also serves on the boards of Hawaii Special Olympics and the Outdoor Circle ...

FOR those who've been following the saga of isle baseball players Matt Apana and Mike Hickey, who were at the epicenter of the huge earthquake in Taiwan recently, they're coming home. The two, who play for the Taichung Tigers in the Taiwan Major League, will attend the team banquet tonight (what, turn down a free meal?) and they expect to arrive back in the islands Wednesday. I wouldn't be surprised if they consider Taiwan as part of their past, rather than their future ...

IF you want to watch some pro makeup artists at work and possibly get a head start on Halloween, head for Aloha Tower Marketplace Saturday where "Baywatch" key stylist Debra Rego and her crew, along with makeup expert Bryan Furer will be participating in the Halloween Film Fantasy. Part of the proceeds will go to Camp Baywatch, which supports disadvantaged kids ...

Pier without peer

SINGER Ginai continues to perform, but is branching out into promotions in order to provide a venue for her "Sisters in Song." That's the title she's chosen for a showcase of female singers presented each Monday night at Aloha Tower's Pier Bar. Tonight, Ginai will be introducing her third artist this month, Anita Hall. Ginai also appears as emcee to help bridge any gaps between audience and performer. She's flying in today from Florida where she's been doing a gig with Matt Catingub at Disney World's Atlantic Dance Hall and helping him promote his new CD ...
