Making a big splash

The first leg of the Ironman Triathlon got off
to a big splash this morning at Kailua-Kona as
1,490 competitors began the race with a 2.4-mile
swim in the water off the Kailua pier. A 112-mile
bike ride and a 26-mile run round out the day's event.
