Bartholomew, Horan
win Masters surf titles

Wayne "Rabbit" Bartholo-mew, the 1978 world surfing champion from Australia, scored a perfect 10 to overpower Hawaii's Michael Ho in the Over 40 Division final of the Silver Edition Masters World Championships at Anglet, France.

Cheyne Horan defeated Tom Carroll in the all-Aussie 40-and-Under final.

Bartholomew and Horan each won $5,500. Ho and Carroll earned $4,500 apiece.

Friis, Christensen win

Hawaii Pacific's Christian Friis and Nina Christensen won the men's 10K and women's 6K runs in the Hawaii-Hilo Invitational cross-country meet Saturday on the Big Island.

Friis finished in 33 minutes and 50 seconds, leading HPU to the men's team title.UH-Hilo's Jesus Villavicencio and Alez Tinajero were second and third.

Christensen paced the wo-men's field in 23:30 but Brigham Young claimed the next three places and team honors.
