THE SEARCH FOR SIGNS OF
HAWAIIAN LIFE IN THE UNIVERSE

Tapa

Still isle folk

Lynn Cook of Honolulu stumbled across the Kanaka Restaurant in
"the tiny town of Ganges, Salt Spring Island, a 20-minute ferry ride
from Vancouver Island. The name comes from the community of
early Hawaiian settlers there ... a real treat was meeting a
Mrs. Rowland," whose late husband was a Vancouver kanaka.
She said "her good friend Kaipo Hale owes her a letter!"

The Search for Signs of Hawaiian Life in the Universe is just that
- we're looking for evidence of Hawaiiana everywhere but Hawaii.
