Former Hawaii place-kicker Jason Elam yesterday became the Denver Broncos' all-time leading scorer when he kicked a 26-yard field goal in the first quarter against the New York Jets.

The boot gave Denver a 3-0 lead but the Broncos lost their fourth in a row, 21-13.

Elam also kicked a 51-yarder and an extra point to finish the game with 748 career points in a Denver uniform. He topped the franchise's former record holder, Jim Turner, who had 742 points.

Broncos' defensive end Ma'a Tanuvasa (Mililani) assisted on two tackles and had half a sack.

Kahuku High product Itula Mili didn't start but he was a small part of the offense in the Seattle Seahawks' 22-21 victory over the Oakland Raiders.

With the Raiders leading, 14-3, in the second quarter, Mili caught a pass on 3rd-and-9 from Jon Kitna but got only eight yards out of it.

The only other locally bred player to produce any offense yesterday was Leilehua's Adrian Murrell. In the Arizona Cardinals' 35-7 loss to the Dallas Cowboys, Murrell rushed 14 times for 44 yards and caught three passes for 11 yards.

In Pittsburgh, former St. Louis School star Chris Fuamatu-Ma'afala was held out of the Steelers' 17-3 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Fuamatu-Ma'afala, a second-year running back, hasn't played for the Steelers since preseason when he suffered a high ankle injury. But a team spokesman said last week that Fuamatu-Ma'afala is running again and should be playing soon.

Olin Kreutz (St. Louis School) Chicago Bears offensive line prevailed over the New Orleans Saints at Soldier Field, 14-10. Kreutz, who starts at center, was part of an effort that gave the Bears 100 percent efficiency on fourth-down conversions (3-3) and 42 percent on third-down conversions (8-19).

Linebacker Ink Aleaga (Pac-Five) played but did not record a tackle for New Orleans.

Kimo von Oelhoffen (Molokai) had two solo tackles while subbing at nose tackle behind Oliver Gibson in the Cincinnati Bengals' 38-10 loss to St. Louis.
