Fab four in 2000
Senior Skins Game

Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, Tom Watson and Gary Player, the golfing legends who played in the first-ever Skins Game 16 years ago, will be reunited for a special millennium celebration in the 2000 Senior Skins Game on the Big Island.

The two-day event, with a purse of $600,000, is scheduled for Super Bowl weekend, Jan. 29-30, on the South Course of the Mauna Lani Resort. It will be televised nationally on ABC-TV.

Palmer, Nicklaus, Watson and Player competed in the first Skins Game in 1983, Player capturing the title with seven skins and $170,000.

Among them, the four greats have played in more than 2,500 tournaments, won 45 major championships, more than 370 tournaments in all and more than $28 million on the PGA and Senior PGA tours.

After its 11th year at Mauna Lani, the Senior Skins Game will move to Maui's Wailea Gold Course for the 2001 and 2002 events.

Rugby at Kapiolani Park

The Budweiser Hawaii Harlequins International Rugby Tournament was to kick off its 28th year of competition and camaraderie today with seven-a-side play from 1 to 5 p.m. at Kapiolani Park.

Teams from the U.S. mainland, Hawaii and Guam are entered in the event, which continues tomorrow from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. with 15-a-side play.

UH-UTEP bus service

The UH Football Express buses will be in service for tomorrow's 6:05 p.m. game between Hawaii and Texas-El Paso at Aloha Stadium.

Routes are from Leeward, Central and Windward points as well as East Oahu, Kaimuki/UH, Waikiki and Ala Moana Center.

Fares are $2 each way (no change given, no transfers or passes accepted). For details on routes and times, call 848-5555.

Jones, Donovan Na Koa guests

Hawaii coach June Jones and associate athletic director Jim Donovan, a former UH offensive lineman, will be the featured speakers at Monday's Na Koa Football Club luncheon.

Lunch at the Waialae Country Club begins at 11:30 a.m., with the program to follow at noon. Cost is $11 per person.
