HPU gets 11th
straight sweep

Flavia Gabinio pounded a match-high 13 kills to lead top-ranked Hawaii Pacific past Chaminade, 15-3, 15-10, 15-6, in a non-conference women's volleyball match yesterday at McCabe gym.

HPU (11-0), one of two teams in NCAA Division II still undefeated (No. 3 West Texas A&M was 15-0 as of Tuesday), has not lost a single set all season.

Chaminade dropped to 3-4.

The Sea Warriors play their Pacific West opener tomorrow, hosting No. 2 BYU-Hawaii at St. Andrew's Priory gym at 7:30 p.m. HPU swept BYUH Sept. 4 in Hilo.

Sheriff Center sold out for volleyball nationals

The NCAA Division I Women's Volleyball Championship, to be played Dec. 16 and 18 at the 10,300-seat Stan Sheriff Center, is sold out, host Hawaii announced yesterday.

Nanakuli forfeits two

Because it used an ineligible player, Nanakuli High School's football team has forfeited its games against Kalani and Pearl City.

Nanakuli, which was second in the OIA White Division with a 3-0 record, drops to 1-2. Kalani improves to 2-2 and Pearl City to 1-3.
