UH prof’s site has cameras
trained all along H-3

University of Hawaii professor Costantinos Papacostas is slowly covering the Internet with live cameras pointed around Oahu. He has added eight more traffic cameras to his page, which already includes 68 live traffic pictures.

The new traffic cameras are mounted along the H-3 freeway and feature views both inside and outside the H-3 tunnel.

Papacostas' technical wizardry was only part of the challenge, as he also had to coordinate the workings of the city, state and the UH to make the project succeed.

"This is a perfect example of how the university can work in partnership with the city and state to help bring the benefits of high technology to the people of Hawaii," he said.
