WHAT distinguishes a garden from a backyard is more than the landscaping. You need a little art, and the place to find it is at the Second Annual y'Art Sale at the Contemporary Museum. The upscale yard sale will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. tomorrow and from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday in the museum gardens -- worth the trip even if you don't buy anything -- at 2411 Makiki Heights Drive. The sale features one-of-a-kind garden sculpture and other outdoor art. Created by local artists, these pieces include bird houses, bird baths, plant stakes and garden stools. Enameled chicken wire forms of dogs, cats or rabbits can stand alone or be used as a base for topiary planting. Prices range from $8 into the thousands, and styles run from funky to sublime, sometimes both. Admission to the sale is free.
