Island woman lands film role

PUNAHOU grad Amanda Schull, 20, a San Francisco Ballet member, has a starring role in "City Ballet," a ballet picture being filmed in New York. It's directed by Nicholas Hytner. His films include "The Crucible" Mug shotand "The Madness of King George." Amanda has been hot on the phone to her mom, Ballet Hawaii board member Susan Schull, talking about working in the movie with Peter Gallagher and Tony Award-winning Donna Murphy. Little show stealer

Little Catherine Creadick, 20 months, stole the show at the Honolulu Theatre for Youth luncheon fashion show at the Waikiki Prince Sunday. As soon as she got on the ramp she started clapping her hands and smiling and encouraging guests to applaud. She was delightful. Austin O'Leary, 5, was another youngster who liked the spotlight. He walked to the end of the ramp with Marcus Gilliland but instead of returning, he stood and stood and stood there, despite Marcus trying to get him moving. The kids put on a fun-filled show, and the jungle set by Jessica Dodge was a winner. KGMB's Jade Moon emceed and her colleague Kim Gennaula was fashion commentator. Both were excellent. Sherry Gilliland, Deborah Gibson, Anna Grune and Jeri Steiner put the show and silent auction together and and deserve praise...

SWEETIE and Tweety gave Perry and Price competition last Saturday morning in Sheraton's Hanohano Room. P&P's Sweetie Pacarro strolled through the room with Tweety from the Warner Bros. Studio Store, posing for photos. They were promoting the Warner Bros. animated movie, "The Iron Giant" ...

Sam fixes flight food

ON my recent vacation I was impressed with Sam Choy's food on my United flights, a vast improvement over most airline food. GUIDO Salmaggi is home making the rounds. The former "Boss" at Spats in the Hyatt said he first sang the Star-Spangled Banner for a crowd at Ebbets Field in 1938 at a Brooklyn Dodgers game. He's been singing the national anthem at events ever since. Incidentally, when Guido was the Boss in Spats in 1976-88, he wore a fedora, suit and spats like an old-time gang boss and arrived at work in a limo.
