Seeks Hawaiian music
for Miramar at Waikiki

Russell Chun wants the Miramar at Waikiki to help bring back Hawaiian music to Waikiki.

"We have a lounge and we're auditioning for new acts to come in to be featured throughout the week," Chun said. "We're looking for new acts as well as established acts."

He expects the schedule to be set by August or September.

Chun has more than 15 years in the resort industry and worked 10 years for Sheraton Hotels in Honolulu, Hong Kong, San Francisco, Molokai and Kauai. He also was general manager of the Waterfall Resort in Ketchikan, Alaska, for three years. Chun also worked for New Otani Hotels in Japan.

Chun recently was an independent missionary and pastor in Malaysia for 15 years, working with a church and kindergarten in the small town of Alorsetar. He earned a bachelor's degree in travel industry management from the University of Hawaii.

The Miramar includes 357 guest rooms and suites.
