Monitoring utility
privatization for the military

Sheldon Hunt, a senior project engineer at C.H. Guernsey & Co., will be working on utility privatization efforts for the Army, Navy and Air Force in the Pacific.

This follows a directive by U.S. Defense Secretary William Cohen in November 1997 to find out whether it would be cost effective to get out of certain utility operations.

"It only happens one-half of the time in peripheral areas such as Hawaii and Alaska," Hunt said.

He has 15 years in a variety of engineering and environmental program management, as well as 12 years in utility and facility construction and maintenance management. He worked from 1994 to 1998 for the Army at Ft. Shafter and then went to the Army facilities at Johnston Island.

Hunt earned a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from the University of Louisville. C.H. Guernsey & Co. is an architectural, engineering and consulting firm based in Oklahoma City. The Honolulu office is at 820 Mililani St.
