Jim Ramirez leads the General Contractors Labor Association, replacing Gordon Scruton, who recently retired from Nordic Construction. Contracting for a better future
The association of more than 70 union contractors conduct joint collective bargaining with the carpenters, laborers, operating engineers and masons unions. Five-year agreements are in place.
"We want to continue to make management and labor work together with mutual goals, especially in this down economy," Ramirez said.
He is senior vice president of Fletcher Pacific Construction Co., where he plans, develops and supervises business development and marketing. He also works with the operations department. Ramirez joined the company in 1972.
He earned a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from the University of Hawaii.
Ramirez is a member of the Rotary Club of Honolulu, the Chamber of Commerce of Hawaii and the Hawaii Hotel Association.
