Make yourself a home
with help from the ’Net

If you are going to be spending this Independence Day holiday celebrating your house, here an ally from the Web.

If you want to build a deck, figure out how much concrete you need for a project, how to install shelves or repaint a room, there is help on the Web.

Go to the Home Improvement Encyclopedia at http://www.bhglive.com/homeimp/index.html. It is part of Better Home and Garden's major web site. But, the home improvement section is being singled out for special praise because of the 2,000 fresh pages of content and 53 new sets of animated demonstrations added last month.

The animations are a real help, but it is still better to print out the tips instead of dragging your laptop to the job site.

"Home on the Web" is a weekly Friday feature of the Star-Bulletin.
