Olympic triathlon qualifier
The ITU Healing Island Triathlon World Cup, to be held Saturday at the Waikoloa Beach Resort on the Big Island, is the only World Cup Olympic qualifying triathlon in the United States this year.Triathletes from around the world will vie for points toward starting spots in the 2000 Sydney Games.
The event is comprised of a 1.5K ocean swim, a 40K bike race and a 10K run. The women start at 8:30 a.m., the men at 11:30 a.m.

State youth track finals
The Hawaii finals for the Hershey National Track and Field Youth Program will be held Saturday, July 10, starting at 7:30 a.m., at the Kaiser High School athletic field.Event winners will be considered for the Pacific Southwest Regional team that will compete in the national meet at Hershey, Pa., on Aug. 10.
Entry is free. Forms are available at all city and county playgrounds, track clubs, boys and girls clubs and military recreation facilities.
Registration deadline is 4 p.m., July 2.
U.S.-China Sanshou bouts
Martial arts stars from China and the United States will square off on Saturday, July 10, at Blaisdell Arena in the first-ever professional Sanshou full-contact fighting championships on American soil.Sanshou, a fighting sport long popular in Asia, combines the fast hands of boxing, swift kicks of Tae Kwon Do, leg kicks of Muay Thai and powerful throws of Judo.
There will be nine bouts starting at 7 p.m.
Among the U.S. standouts is unbeaten cruiserweight Harlan "The Enforcer" Lee of Hawaii.
Ticket prices are $200 (VIP), $100 (ringside), $45 (risers/loges) and $25 (upper level).
AJA Senior Golf at West Loch
The 37th annual AJA Senior Golf Tournament will take place on Tuesday, July 13, at the West Loch Golf Course. First tee time is 10 a.m.The tournament is open to males 60 years and up with handicaps not over 30 and females 55 and up with handicaps not over 40.
A fellowship and awards banquet will follow the competition.
