Have urinal,

When you gotta go, you gotta go, even when you're in the car in the middle of the 16-mile-long, no-exits H-3 or you're on the trail above Makiki.

But how do you get road relief? How do hikers adhere to the "leave no trace" philosophy when nature calls -- loudly?

Reachgood Industrial Co. offers a solution: the #1 Travel John.

The Travel John is described as a "disposable personal urinal." A pouch contains a non-toxic powder that suppresses odors and absorbs liquid, turning it into gel, says the manufacturer. A spill guard prevents any leakage during and after use, Reachgood says.

In a Star-Bulletin test -- we used water -- the powder turned the liquid viscous quickly. The pouch did not leak even when held upside down and shaken.

The mouth of the bag is fitted so it can handle #1's from men and women, as well as hurls from a car-sick child.

The really yucky part is you'll have to haul the full bag around in the car or in your backpacks until a trash can shows up.

The #1 Travel John will be available at Kmart and Longs Drug stores in July.
