Women’s golf final today

Traci Kashiwabara-Ayabe and Mahina Ah Yuen advanced to today's final of the Hawaii State Women's Golf Association Match Play Championship at the Oahu Country Club.

Kashiwabara-Ayabe defeated Sibylle Brinkman, 2 and 1, while Mahina Ah Yuen eliminated Nola Miyasaki, 4 and 3, in yesterday's semifinals.

NCAA summer hoops

The NCAA College Basketball Summer League will begin its 23rd season tomorrow at the Kaimuki High School gym with games at 6 and 7:30 p.m.

All games will be played on Fridays and Saturdays at Kaimuki at the same times. Admission is free.

The league, which will run through Aug. 13, is made up of college players and former high school standouts.

Team sponsors are Honolulu Ford, Electricians Hawaii, Kahala Suns, Central Medical Clinic, Hawaiian Super Prix and Gaspro.

Imaoka won boys' 10 title

Colin Imaoka, who shot a 58-57-115 for 36 holes, won the boys' 10 title in the Oahu Junior Golf Association tournament Tuesday at the Hawaii Kai Executive Course.

Imaoka's line was omitted in yesterday's Scoreboard results. Jordan Cox, who had a 119, finished second.

Chaminade names Black

Bruce Black, a graduate of Punahou School and UCLA, has been named water polo coach at Chaminade University.

Black was a four-year water polo letterman at UCLA, captaining the team in his 1985 senior season. For the past five years, he has been the junior varsity water polo coach at Punahou.
