Overseeing revenue
at Kahala Mandarin

Kahala Mandarin Oriental, Hawaii has appointed Laine Mizuno to the new position of director of revenue management for the 371-room hotel.

His responsibility is to oversee the reservations department and manage the hotel's room inventory.

"It's a new job and I anticipate it being an interesting challenge," Mizuno said.

A team approach will be used to develop new ideas for the hotel, he said.

Mizuno has been with the hotel for 22 years, and most recently was assistant controller.

He started his career as a mini-bar porter and moved on to other jobs, including room service manager, chief steward and operations analyst.

He grew up in Hawaii Kai and is a graduate of Kalani High School.

Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group operates hotels in Bangkok, Hong Kong, Honolulu, Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur, London, Macau, Manila, San Francisco, Singapore and Surabaya.

Another hotel is under development in Miami.
