Preparations for the annual Kamehameha Day
Parade require much hard work
and many willing hands

float for the King Kamehameha Floral Parade this Saturday.

Kaili Asuncion has a hold of the long ti leaf skirt that will
eventually be place around the Kaahumanu float. The float
is being decorated at Pier 19 in preparation for the
King Kamehameha Day Floral Parade.

At Pier 19, Curtis Ortiz hammers the first two-by-fours on the
truck bed that will be the float. His brother, Kealii Ortiz,
lines up the next piece of lumber.

Linda Mitz, left, and Leota Souza, right,, have fun helping put lau
hala roses on the ti leaves that will decorate the Kaahumanu float
for the King Kamehameha Parade tomorrow. The parade starts at
9:30 a.m. tomorrow at King and Richards streets.
