UH strength
clinics set

Three strength training clinics -- the first of their kind in Hawaii -- will be conducted by the University of Hawaii strength and conditioning staff, along with current UH athletes, at the Alexander Waterhouse Physiology Research and Training facility in the Stan Sheriff Center.

The clinics are open to boys and girls ages 15 or older, parents and coaches.

The first clinic deals with football and is scheduled for June 22, 24 and 26. The second, involving volleyball, will be held July 5, 7 and 9. The third, involving baseball, is set for July 26, 28 and 30.

Each of the three-day sessions runs 3 hours.

The cost is $75.

Menor in Ironman

Wendy Menor of Honolulu qualified for the Ironman Triathlon World Championships by winning the recent women's 50-59 age-group title in the recent Ironman Lanzarote Canarias in the Canary Islands.

The Ironman will is scheduled for Oct. 23 at Kailua-Kona.
