Super Prix ticket
sales start tomorrow

Tickets for the $10 million Hawaiian Super Prix I auto race go on sale tomorrow.

The three-day event will take place Nov. 11-13 at Kalaeloa Airport, Barbers Point.

Reserved grandstand and general admission tickets will be available through Tickets Plus at 526-4400.

Ticket prices are $150 and $75 for three-day grandstand reserved seating; $35 for a three-day general admission pass, $10 for Thursday admission, $15 for Friday admission and $25 for Championship Saturday admission.

Special corporate and VIP seating also is available, ranging from $475 to $50,000. Those packages can be purchased by calling 550-0955.

Women's football tryouts

A second round of tackle football tryouts for a Hawaii women's team will be held Tuesday, June 8, at Aiea District Park starting at 7 p.m.

The session will be conducted by coaches and players of the Hawaiian Warriors men's team.

Plans are in the works for a September debut by the isle women's team in a game on Maui.

Strongman, bikini contests

The World Strongman Challenge, featuring Magnus Samuelson, Jouko Ahola, Chief Iron Bear and Hawaii's Joe Onosai, and the Women's Bikini Fitness Challenge, with 24 local contestants, will be held tomorrow and Sunday at Sea Life Park.

The made-for-TV "Beauty & the Beast" competition is sponsored by 24-Hour Fitness.

Samuelson and Ahola, the 1997 and '98 World's Strongest Man winners, will be among the 30 Strongman contenders.

The Women's Bikini Fitness Challenge will be on Sunday.

Polo matchup

The San Francisco and Honolulu polo clubs will tangle Sunday at 2:30 p.m. on the Waimanalo polo field.

Gates open at 1 p.m. Admission is $3, with children under 10 free.

Wahine volleyball tickets

Today is the deadline for renewal for Hawaii women's volleyball season ticket holders.

Renewals should be postmarked by today to the UH ticket office.

Season ticket holders will have the first option of purchasing NCAA Women's Volleyball Championship tickets. Those invoices will be mailed out on Monday, June 21. The championship will be held at the Stan Sheriff Center Dec. 16 and 18.

Marine base triathlon

The marines and sailors of the First Marine Aircraft Wing Aviation Support Element and the Marine Corps Air Facility challenge individuals and teams to compete in their third annual Sprint Triathlon on June 19 at the Marine Corps Base Hawaii, Kaneohe Bay.

The event includes an 800-meter swim in the bay, an 11.1-mile bike race and a 3.5-mile run around the Klipper Golf Course. Bikes must pass a prerace safety inspection and cyclists must wear bicycle helmets.

Participants may enter individually or in three-person relay teams.

Check-in time is 6 a.m. at the base pier. The triathlon begins at 7:30 a.m.

Entry fees are $12, or $17 after June 11. Entry forms are available at the MCCS Athletics Department or by calling 254-7590.
