Tackling e-commerce
at Grant Thornton

Thomas Yamashiro will head the information technology initiative for the Grant Thornton LLP office in Honolulu.

He will research and implement innovative information technology services for clients.

"One of things we are looking at is e-commerce (selling on the Internet)," Yamashiro said. "I'm also working with the clients' strategic business plans."

He has more than 30 years of information technology experience and most recently was the administrator of the information and communication services division with the state Department of Accounting and General Services.

Yamashiro also worked as information processing manager in the lieutenant governor's office and as deputy director of the state Department of Budget and Finance.

He started his career with the Hawaii Medical Service Association and Computab Inc.

He earned a bachelor's degree in mathematics from the University of Hawaii.
