Remembering
those lost at
Sacred Falls

By Ken Sakamoto, Star-Bulletin
Nearly a month after the mountain came tumbling down on
Mother's Day at Sacred Falls State Park, eight white crosses at
the entrance mark the lives lost. One of the crosses memorializes
Aaron Bann, 31, of Placentia, Calif., who died in the act of saving
his wife, Cindy, 31. He covered her body with his and took the
brunt of the rocks. Cindy Bann still hasn't returned home, according
to Stanley Berko, grandfather to Aaron Bann. She also hasn't been
willing to talk about the tragedy. She and her daughter, who turns
2 this month, are staying with Bann's mother. "She's quite
upset," Berko said. "Quite upset."
