Hornsby triathlon starsHawker set a women's course record of 4 hours, 35 minutes, 28 seconds for the 1.2-mile swim, 56-mile bike and 13.1-mile run. Hawker's winning time was 4:03:09.
Honolulu runners Lou Ortiz and Debbie Hornsby won the men's and women's Olympic Distance Race (1.5K swim, 40K bike, 10K run), with Ortiz finishing in 2:08:06 and Hornsby in 2:20:15.
Lokahi paddlers prevail
Lokahi captured AA Division honors in yesterday's Hui Wa'a Hui O Ikaika canoe racing regatta at Keehi Lagoon.Lokahi totaled 85 points to 67 for runner-up Kaneohe.
Koa Kai took first among A Division clubs with 44 points, 11 more than second-place Windward Kai.
Robb surfs ahead in Fiji
Kalani Robb won his heat today while fellow Hawaii surfers Andy Irons and Conan Hayes finished third in theirs as the first round of the Quiksilver Pro Fiji was completed today in waves of just 1-3-feet.Organizers postponed the start of the next round, hoping for better surf conditions tomorrow.
Ross Williams and Shane Dorian of Hawaii had won Saturday heats to advance to Round 3.
Isle surfers Sunny Garcia and Shawn Sutton were second in their earlier heats and will join Irons and Hayes in loser-out Round 2 heats.
Wilson finishes strong
Dean Wilson of Kaneohe shot a 3-under-par 69 in yesterday's final round of the Philippine Open golf tournament at Manila for a 278 total and a share of sixth place worth $5,021.67.Anthony Kang of Korea closed with a 66 to win the title with a 273 total.
